Props to the Cops – Multiple Robbery Arrests

Due to community concerns regarding robberies, the Metropolitan Police Department is releasing information on recent robbery arrests. Citywide there have been 351 arrests for robbery this year. Below are recent robbery arrests made within the last week.

First District

Saturday, March 10, 2012, at approximately 9:00 am, in the 1200 block of I Street, NE, a suspect assaulted an individual and took cash from the victim. The victim sustained minor injuries. On Monday, March 26, 2012, following an investigation by members of the Metropolitan Police Department, an adult male suspect was arrested for Robbery Force and Violence.

Monday, March 26, 2012, at approximately 7:50 pm, a victim was approached by an individual armed with a handgun who demanded the victim’s money. During the robbery, the suspect shot the victim who sustained non-life threatening injuries. On Thursday, March 29, 2012, following an investigation by members of the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect was arrested in the 900 block of 3rd Street, SW for Assault with Intent to Rob while Armed and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon – Gun.

Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at approximately 9:30 pm, a victim was in the 800 block of 3rd Street, NE, when two individuals attempted to take the victim’s cell phone. A short time later two suspects were arrested at 11th H Streets, NE. They were arrested for Assault with Intent to Rob.

Fourth District

Saturday, March 24, 2012, at approximately 7:15 pm, a victim was accosted by two suspects at 9th Street and Rock Creek Church Road, NW. One of the suspects reached into the victim’s pocket and grabbed an Apple I Phone. An investigation by members of the Metropolitan Police Department led to the quick apprehension of two juvenile male suspects in the 3900 Block of 13th Street, NW. The suspects were arrested for Robbery Snatch.

Sunday, March 25, 2012, at approximately 9:45 am, a victim was physically assaulted by two suspects in the 3900 block of 7th Street, NW. The suspects attempted to steal the victim’s bicycle but fled when other citizens appeared. Members of the Metropolitan Police Department apprehended one of the suspects, an adult male, in the 600 block of Newton Place, NW. He was arrested for Assault with Intent to Commit a Robbery.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
