Update on Petworth Yoga Studio – Opening Jan. 2

From an email:

Golden Heart Yoga DC is opening a new yoga studio in Petworth. Located on Georgia Avenue [4804 Georgia Ave NW] across the street from several popular neighborhood restaurants [Fusion, Moroni and Bros. Pizza, Ras], Golden Heart Yoga DC will offer yoga classes for all levels, as well as teacher trainings, workshops, and other special events.

Golden Heart Yoga DC is owned and operated by two experienced Washington, DC yoga instructors, Elizabeth Lloyd and Julie Eisenberg. Elizabeth and Julie are Petworth neighbors and are committed to creating a warm and welcoming space that meets the needs of the diverse community in and around Petworth.

Elizabeth is the owner of Annapolis’s Golden Heart Yoga Studio, voted Best of Annapolis in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2010, as well as Best of the Bay in 2010. Julie has spent the last several years working with Yoga Activist, an organization that provides yoga teachers for classes with at-risk and underserved populations.

Golden Heart Yoga DC will open its doors on January 2. For more information, please go here.

Ed. Note: Incidentally, today is Fusion’s 3 year anniversary party and “after 5pm we will serve complimentary cocktail and appetizer”. Fusion is located at 4815 Georgia Ave, NW.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
