Last week, I profiled a recent condo sale in Forest Hills. This week, the subject property is technically in the same ‘hood, but let’s just say it’s closer to the park.

It is not unusual in many parts of DC for foreclosure properties to be priced to sell and end up attracting multiple offers. In this case, we’re looking at the seven figure version. The agent for the buyer, Carroll Dey with TTR Sothebys shared with me that she wasn’t sure exactly how many offers there ultimately were, but she believes there were at least four. Including this property, there have been a total of eight foreclosed homes listed in DC since January 2010 with price tags of at least a million dollars.
In 2002, 2800 Chesterfield Pl NW looked like this and sold as a tear down for $1,800,000. In 2004, American Masterworks Development subdivided the lots and had plans to build “an artistic development of 3 new contemporary homes in a tranquil environment” called “Sacred Trees”. According to public records, the subject property was purchased in 2005 for $3,650,000. Prior to the foreclosure, the owners attempted to list it for sale as early as 2007, and then tried again in 2010. The 2007 virtual tour shows what the house looks like furnished.

Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
