The Petworth Community Market (PCM) will hold a fundraiser to support the hiring of a market manager for the 2011 season and efforts to expand market accessibility to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamps) recipients through the purchase of an Electronic Benefits Machine (EBT) and creation of a benefits matching fund program. The fundraiser will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 6:30-8:30pm at Domku Bar & Café at 821 Upshur St. NW. The fundraiser will feature a silent auction, raffle, drink specials, photo portrait booth, and DJ. Suggested entry donation is $10. To purchase tickets or to make a general donation to the cause, please visit: here.

Located along the 4100 block of Ninth Street, NW, at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Upshur Street, PCM will open for its second season on May 20, 2011, and will run every Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM through September 30, 2011.

PCM is still recruiting farm vendors, artists and crafters for the weekly markets. For additional details or to download a vendor application, visit www.petworthmarket.org.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
