I received a number of texts and emails around 10:20pm Wed. evening along the following lines:
“Dear PoP,
So I’m currently at Meridian Pint and there are tons of cops outside, some with assault rifles and riot gear. There’s a police van and at least 10 police cars parked in the street. According to management, no one is not allowed to leave. The police presence seems to be concentrated here at 11th and Park, but there have been roadblocks reported in the area for at least two hours. Any idea what’s going on?”
MPD assures me as of 10:36pm that the situation is under control. Apparently there was a man with a bb gun that looked like a military rifle in the window of a home on Park Rd between 11th and 13th St, NW. There are very few further details at the moment but folks are allowed to leave and the situation is under control.
