2225 M Street, NW
“Engine Company 1 and Truck Company 2 of the District of Columbia Fire Department, serving the West End since 1871”
Update from DC Fire and EMS:
“The DC firehouse located at 2225 M Street NW is temporarily closed to allow for necessary repairs and upgrades to the apparatus bay floors. This maintenance work is underway to ensure the safety and long‑term functionality of the station. We expect the firehouse to reopen by September 23.
During this temporary closure, all DC Fire and EMS units assigned to this station remain fully in service and are operating from nearby firehouses to ensure uninterrupted emergency response for the community.”
Well this is bizarre. Thanks to a reader for sending this morning: “Walked by this morning and ???”

This brand new fire station (and Squash on Fire) only opened here back in 2017.

Oh how times have changed, back in 2016 I referred to this new development as “across the street from Soul Cycle (near West End Cinema)” Double RIP!!
Anyway, what the what?!? And why is already closed?

By the by, here’s what the old library looked like a block away at 23rd and L back in 2014:

Stay tuned for more on the fire house as we learn about it.
