Thanks to Jared for passing on the alert:
“Black bear spotted in Upper NW DC on Saturday – sounds like it was in the Glover Archbold Park trail between the Berkshire Apartments (4201 Massachusetts Ave, NW) and McLean Gardens.
DC: America’s new wildlife spotting destination?”
Ed. Note: Definitely not new, see my favorite previous black bear sightings here.
“We wanted to give you a heads-up that a black bear was spotted Saturday night around 8:30 pm behind the building.
No one was harmed, but we wanted to make sure everyone is aware. Please keep an eye out, especially if you’re walking your dog in the evening or at night and try to stay alert in that area for the time being. If you see the bear again, or notice any other wildlife acting strangely, please call DC Animal Control at 202-888-7387. They’re available 24 hours a day and will dispatch an officer to respond.
Thank you,
Berkshire Mgmt.”
