From The National Museum of Women in the Arts:
“The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) announces the opening of a new Museum Café. The launch will take place on Wednesday, July 8, a Free Community Day with summer extended hours.
Located on the mezzanine, the Museum Café reflects a new partnership with local coffee experts Slipstream, and will offer iced and hot coffees and teas, in addition to light bites and pastries. Through the Slipstream Roasting Project, the Museum Café is proud to offer a coffee bean from Colombia’s Huila region cultivated solely by female farmers using traditional, sustainable techniques. The line of beans, Las Esmeraldas, was sourced exclusively for the Museum Café at NMWA. Museum members receive a 10% discount at the café.
NMWA’s Free Community Day features an Open Studio from 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. with free,
self-directed drop-in art-making activities inspired by artworks on view for visitors of all ages. Conversational 30-minute thematic Gallery Talks take place at 12 noon, perfect for visitors on a lunch break. Longer 45-minute drop-in tours of the museum’s collection take place at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The Library and Research Center is open from 12 to 7 p.m. Exhibitions on view include Making Their Mark: Works from the Shah Garg Collection, Burnished: Pueblo Pottery at NMWA, and Ms. Americana.
Admission is free the first Sunday and second Wednesday of each month. Extended hours are also offered on Wednesday, August 12. The program is presented in partnership with the DC Public Library as part of Discover Summer, an all-ages, city-wide celebration of reading and learning at home, at the library, and in your community.

National Museum of Women in the Arts
The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) is the first museum in the world solely dedicated to championing women through the arts. With its collections, exhibitions, programs and online content, the museum inspires dynamic exchanges about art and ideas. NMWA advocates for better representation of women and nonbinary artists and serves as a vital center for thought leadership, community engagement and social change. NMWA addresses the gender imbalance in the presentation of art by bringing to light important women artists of the past while promoting great women artists working today. The collection highlights a wide range of works in a variety of mediums by artists including Rosa Bonheur, Louise Bourgeois, Lalla Essaydi, Lavinia Fontana, Frida Kahlo, Hung Liu, Zanele Muholi, Faith Ringgold, Niki de Saint Phalle and Amy Sherald.
NMWA is located at 1250 New York Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. It is open Tues.–Sun., 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and closed on Mondays and select holidays.
