“Dear PoPville,
The headphone snatchers are still out on the MBT. A week ago I was walking on the MBT at night near the Eckington Dog Park and two teens rode by on a Lime electric bike. A woman coming the other way yelled something and said they had just grabbed her air pods. I don’t know if she got them back but they took off so it’s unlikely.
And Friday, May 29, in broad daylight at 6 pm,
I was walking behind two police officers and two teens on a Lime bike (pattern), rode up from behind me and hit a woman’s hand walking the other way. Likely trying to snatch the phone and headphones out of her hand. She was with her family and a small child. The police officers did not react. The woman yelled after the teens then turned to the cops and said “Did you see that? That’s assault.” The cops said “Yeah” and kept walking. They wouldn’t have been able to catch the teens on the bike, but maybe a yell from a cop would do something.
Anyway, long story short, watch out on the MBT. Avoid wearing big headphones or anything with a chord that is easy to grab and keep valuables out of your hands. Apparently the cops have better things to do, so stay safe.
