What does the Pink ribbon on Trees in Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park mean?

“Dear PoPville,

These two magnificent trees at the Chapin St NW entrance of the park has a pink ribbon on each of them.

This usually identifies trees that are to be cut down.

Let’s hope not! In my opinion they’ve cleared out enough of the trees and shrubs.”
