“Dear PoPville,
Location: Trinidad
Not all heroes wear capes. I was walking with a friend crossing Florida to northbound Staples St NE at approximately 2 PM on Saturday 18 April 2026. My friend and I looked west-northwest on the south side of Florida Ave, and approximately in front of 1322 Florida Ave NE, we saw someone moving a Lime bike. It was perpendicular to the eastbound bike lane, completely blocking the path. This good samaritan was removing it from the bike lane and putting it on the sidewalk, parallel to the path of travel and out of the way.
I am raising awareness about two things:
First, it takes so many of us just a few moments of our day to keep the city safe for all who are in transit: pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. Second, intentionally or obliviously impeding the travel of any of these three modes of transit is abhorrent behavior.
Bravo Zulu to this cyclist who took the time to remove an obstacle that untold numbers of others passed off as someone else’s problem to fix. I see you, and I admire your generosity.”
