“Dear PoPville,
I am a Columbia Heights resident writing to highlight some extremely kind strangers in my neighborhood this morning. This AM I was walking two dogs when one slipped out of his harness and proceeded to run away. I left the second dog behind and gave chase. The dog ran for blocks and was approaching Georgia Ave, where I was very sure he was going to be hit by a car, when
a stranger on a bike started to help me chase and corral him. This kind stranger was somehow able to get the dog into a fenced yard where I was able to retrieve him. I then rushed back to the second dog to find a couple that had witnessed the incident waiting for me. They had put my dog in a neighbor’s fenced yard to keep her safe. These wonderful strangers saved me from what could have been a horrific and tragic end to the year. I know that they will probably never see this, but I want them to know how deeply grateful I am for their help and wish them all of the positive energy heading into the new year.”
