“It’s official. The rumor for the last 3 years that Streets Market will be taking over the Metro Market space at 2130 P Street, NW in Dupont is no longer a rumor. No date yet for opening but I think fall.
I’m saddened by the loss of a decades-old local mainstay. Dupont, in particular, hasn’t been particularly welcoming to corporate chains. The chronic scourge of vacant storefronts is due in no small part to landlords who refuse to listen to consumers and businesses and keep rents absurdly high to shut out all but those with deep pockets.
I hope Streets will make the effort to endear themselves and become a valued addition to the neighborhood like Metro was for decades.”
