“Dear PoPville,
Driving to work this morning, a bikeshare rider swerved out in front of me so I lightly beeped my horn. Not aggressively but to give a warning as I had the space to drive around him in the other lane. He proceeded to film me and aggressively blocked my progress between the intersection of P St NW and the Rock Creek offramp (Georgetown) and P and 23rd. I didn’t engage and stayed calm although very unsettling. Is this the new norm?
I actually tapped my horn because I’m so concerned about hitting someone. Only a month ago I saw a bikeshare rider get hit by a car in the very same intersection and stopped to make sure he was okay. Fortunately he was, the police were nearby and the driver of the car stopped immediately.
Hoping that the community can give me some insight on whether this happens frequently and what, if anything, can be done.”
