Inspired by iconic dining and nightlife experiences in Mykonos, Dubai, and Saint-Tropez, GAIA reimagines the supper club for a D.C. audience with world-class culinary offerings, live entertainment, and a transportive atmosphere that blurs the line between dinner and nightlife. GAIA is an inventive restaurant and lounge that invites guests to have an exquisite feast while being entertained by musicians, dancers, DJs, and more.
At the heart of GAIA’s menu is award-winning chef Sammy Davis, known for his soulful southern cuisine and innovative culinary flair. With GAIA, Davis steps into new territory—curating a vibrant menu that fuses Mediterranean and Latin flavors with signature creativity. The menu boasts dishes like Deep Fried Hummus, a Latin twist on refried beans with an airy mousse-like texture; Chicken Nuggets topped crème fraiche, caviar; and flakes of 24 karat edible gold; and a 1 ½ pound Tomahawk Ribeye served with truffle butter, chimichurri, and tiger sauce that balances boldness with elegance.
Behind GAIA is a powerhouse trio of founders: nightlife impresarios Wayne Johnson and Tony Perry, known for transforming the city’s after-dark culture with standout venues like Saint Yves and Abigail and newer internet-viral concept Llamabar Cafe, and international hospitality pro Mele Melton, a dynamic East African-born entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience designing luxury experiences across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
“It’s been my dream to create a restaurant like this and my co-owners Wayne Johnson and Tony Perry have been the ideal partners to bring GAIA to life with their expertise in creating truly unique environments,” proclaims Melton. “As an East African woman who grew up between cultures and built a career in high-end hospitality, I wanted to bring a truly international perspective to D.C.’s dining scene. GAIA is more than a restaurant — it’s a passport to the world.”
“When coming up with new ideas for our businesses, I always pull from the places I’ve visited around the world,” says co-owner, Wanye Johnson. “We gained our reputation creating unparalleled nightlife atmospheres. GAIA is similar in that it will offer our guests a gorgeous and thoughtful space to relax and have a good time. But here, the night begins with a decadent meal and seamlessly transitions into a vibrant, music-driven experience.”
The design, executed by D.C.-based Drummond Projects, leans into earthy elegance: emerald greens, golden browns, and plush banquettes curve through the space, which can seat approximately 70 guests, offering intimate pockets for conversation and celebration. The cocktail program features herbaceous, visually stunning creations that evoke Europe’s sun-soaked coasts — each glass a passport to somewhere extraordinary.
GAIA Supperclub operates from Tuesday to Sunday from 5 pm to 1 am. For reservations and more information, go to gaiasupperclub.com.”
