“Sustainable Fashion Celebration Takes Over Upshur Street – Saturday!”

“The vibrant Upshur Street corridor in Petworth will transform into a sustainable fashion and local shopping destination on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 11 AM to 7 PM. This community-centered celebration marks the grand reopening of beloved local institutions Fia’s Fabulous Finds and Elephant in My Room in their expanded locations.

“This is more than just a shopping event—it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and sustainability,” said Safisha Thomas, owner of Fia’s Fabulous Finds. “We’re bringing together neighbors, sustainable fashion enthusiasts, and local business supporters for a day that showcases the best of Petworth’s independent business community.” The day also features the opening reception of “Threads Of Emotion,” a new exhibition by artist Greta Chapin-McGill at Art Of Noize gallery.

Fia’s Fabulous Finds returns with double the space at 843 Upshur Street NW after more than a decade serving the community. The expanded thrift store features curated women’s, kids’, and men’s apparel, home goods, and accessories, all embracing the principles of reuse and sustainability.

In the back room of Fia’s, shoppers will discover an exclusive collaboration with Willow, oYering unique gifts and trendy apparel where creativity meets sustainable style.

Just down the block at 806 Upshur Street NW, Elephant in My Room brings vintage treasures to fashion-forward Washingtonians. Known as the “Home of Saving Grandma’s Clothes,” this boutique specializes in stunning pieces from the 1950s to 1990s and oYers personal styling services that blend vintage charm with contemporary sensibilities.
