Readers reported just before 4pm: “Big police presence in Georgia Ave between Otis and New Hampshire Ave. helicopter circling as well.”
“Multiple shots. May have been related to police traffic stop at Quebec and Georgia.”
From MPD: “MPD is on the scene of an officer-involved shooting near the area of Georgia Ave NW and Quebec Ave NW. At this time, no one has been struck. Additional information forthcoming. PIO en route to the scene.”
A bit earlier MPD reported a shooting on 14th:
“Alert: MPD units are Investigating a Shooting in the 1400 block of Oak Street NW. Lookout for (2) black males armed with a rifle and a handgun. Last seen in a silver Honda Civic headed westbound at the listed location.”
“MPD reports the police activity has cleared and the following roads have reopened to traffic:
– 3600 block of Georgia Avenue, NW, between New Hampshire Avenue and Princeton Place
– Southbound lanes in the 3700 block of Georgia Avenue, NW, between Quincy Street and New Hampshire Avenue
– Northbound lanes in the 3500 – 3600 blocks of Georgia Avenue, NW, between Park Road and Princeton Place
– 3600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, NW, between Princeton Place and Georgia Avenue”

“Agents from the Force Investigation Team of the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the 700 block of Quebec Place, Northwest.
On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at approximately 3:27 p.m., officers conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3600 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest, observed two individuals firing weapons in the 700 block of Quebec Place, Northwest.
One of the officers drew their service weapon and fired in the direction of the suspects. The officers immediately called for assistance and began searching for the suspects, who were last seen fleeing in an alley between Princeton Place and Quebec Place. The investigation revealed three suspects were involved in the shooting. No one was struck by gunfire and no officers were injured.
The involved officers have been placed on administrative leave, pursuant to MPD policy. The release of body-worn camera footage is pursuant to District of Columbia law (D.C. Official Code § 5–116.33 (c)(2)).
The criminal case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division. The officer-involved shooting remains under investigation by the Internal Affairs Bureau’s Force Investigations Team, which investigates all law enforcement officer-involved shootings in the District of Columbia. The United States Attorney’s Office will independently review the facts and evidence in the case.
