“The DC Office of Planning is undertaking a public life study in Columbia Heights and Mount Pleasant”

“Dear PoPville,

The DC Office of Planning is undertaking a public life study in Columbia Heights and Mount Pleasant. It is “a comprehensive effort to improve the quality and use of public spaces in Columbia Heights and Mount Pleasant through data-driven analysis, guideline development, and inclusive community engagement.” It includes four components: Inclusive Engagement, a Public Life Assessment, Design Guidelines, and a Sidewalk Vending Study.

As part of this effort, the consultants working with the Office of Planning have conducted street surveys in the two neighborhoods and have posted an online survey that is important for people to fill out if they have opinions about issues such as street vending, public space programming, neighborhood safety, and need for rehabilitation of public spaces in the two neighborhoods.

The survey is located here.

It is urgent that people fill it out soon, since it is supposed to be up for only a few more days, although the ANC Special Committee working with the Office of Planning is requesting an extension of time for the survey. On the web site, there is a function to translate the survey.
