Danielle writes: “This is really sad. Chris, the owner, has been a wonderful community member. He often opened the place up to charity fund raisers and donated food to senior service organizations. A real loss. Plus the old bay chicken wings rocked.”
From Blue 44:
Friends & Neighbors,
It is with a heavy heart that I send this email notifying you that Blue 44 is closing its doors permanently this week – Friday, June 7th will be our final day operating
. Due to the aftermath of the pandemic, we are no longer able to function at a level needed to support rent, labor, and other necessary expenses associated with the business. As such, we made this difficult decision after more than 13 years of serving the Chevy Chase community.
It has been a dream come true to serve you as I have forged life-long relationships with so many wonderful families, attended weddings, funerals, and even watched your children grow – some of whom joined our staff when they became old enough. On behalf of the entire Blue 44 team, we want to thank you for your invaluable support over the years. Watching the community rally around the local businesses during the pandemic is something we will never forget, and we will always be grateful for that extra nudge that got us this far.
We hope to serve you one last time this week and it has truly been an honor being a part of this community. Thank you again for an amazing run and always treating the Blue 44 staff like gold.
Much Love,
Chris, Ximena, Sofy & The Blue 44 Family”
