Dear PoPville

“Is there a city ordinance that would require her to limit her plants to her property?”

“Dear PoPville,

I have a neighbor whose front yard plants have overgrown the sidewalk – we’re talking 50% or more of the available space, which puts pedestrians within 12 inches of a busy road. Conversations with this neighbor with polite requests to trim the vegetation have not gone anywhere. It’s not an otherwise abandoned or unkempt property.

Is there a city ordinance that would require her to limit her plants to her property? Is there somewhere I can file a complaint? I recognize this is incredibly minor in the grand scheme of things, but it really grinds my gears that this neighbor feels entitled to take over public space and put pedestrians at risk.”
