“Dear PoPville,
Free2Move and I broke up at long last. They even threw me back into the arms of my ridiculous ex, Zipcar. I hadn’t used Zipcar in close to two years because of its limitations. You have to reserve for a specific amount of time and return on time or face a fine. Worse, you can’t just park it wherever you wish, but return it where you got it. Those were dealbreakers back when Free2Move and I decided to date each other exclusively.
But
pot-smelly Free2Move was a heartbreaker and I always secretly knew it. After they refused to even partially refund me for a trip after a tire blowout, I knew it was just a matter of time before we’d be kaput. It has now been two full weeks and I haven’t used Free2Move once. Instead I hail rideshare services, which also give their drivers some income. Win-win! (I like Empower more than Lyft or Uber.) But sometimes driving makes sense, so in those rare instances (for example, going out of town), I’ll take a Zipcar.
It felt really weird calling them to confirm that my old card was still good. It felt like going back to an old neighborhood again… awkward. But hey, they were still there. And Free2Move won’t miss me.
Or at least they’ll never admit it.”
