“Dear PoPville,
I found a backpack in my alley and there are items inside but nothing that identifies who owns it. I can tell it’s probably someone who is homeless with
some of the literature inside the backpack (list of homeless shelters, details on DC support options, etc…). There are also some clothes, toiletries, miscellaneous papers including MANY handwritten letters [like perhaps a diary], and USB cables with power plug for charging phone. It’s a relatively nice backpack and it doesn’t appear that it was intentionally tossed.
Do I take this to the police station (like they don’t have enough to do), a homeless shelter, toss in trash, something else? Normally I would just toss it where I found it but I don’t see how that will get this back to the owner.
Ideas?”
