Moon Rabbit’s new location in Penn Quarter opening Monday!

927 F Street, NW previously home to Scotts and Co Co Sala

From an email:

“I am elated to share that Moon Rabbit by Chef Kevin Tien (four-time James Beard Foundation semifinalist, 2023 RAMW Chef of the Year, Food and Wine Best New Chef 2018) will be reopening on Monday, January 15th, 2024

in their new home on 927 F St, NW, (opening hours Tuesday- Saturday, 5pm-9:30pm; Bar: 5-10:30pm)!

The reimagined menu will be a sweeping journey through Vietnam- a deeper exploration of regional dishes and landscape plus innovative touches from Chef Kevin Tien’s roots, with desserts by Pastry Chef Susan Bae, cocktails by Speed Rack finalist and Top 100 World Class Bar Director Thi Nguyen.

Savory cuisine will include shareable plates as well as family & friend-sized sharing dishes, and desserts will utilize exotic flavors and ingredients inspired by fruit and/or ingredients predominately sourced in Vietnam such as Durian, Soursop, and Seaweed- and will be cutting edge with unpredictable combinations that may not be seen on an average menu.

Drinks, inspired by a recent return trip to Vietnam, will showcase multiple aspects of regional flavors and ingredients that are indigenously used in Vietnam such as Rau Ram, Pickled Lemon, Curry, Soursop, etc. There will be many Asian spirits on the menu that are Vietnamese-specific or owned by Vietnamese people- such as moonshine, Vietnamese gin, global Asian spirits and sake.

Design elements include a color palette that has a lightness and playfulness to reflect the coastal nature of Vietnam- a space to come home to; a space that feels warm and safe. Additionally, as there are in many Asian living rooms and households- there will be a shrine to paternal and matriarchal family members plus cherished memories.

Chef Tien has retained over 90% of both the original dining room and kitchen teams- which is the only thing that is similar to Moon Rabbit from its previous location and a testament to his leadership and guidance.”

Now, our last show may or may not have mentioned Taylor Swift, and we may have gotten into some trouble from confused Swifties who thought they scored a $15 ticket to a Taylor Swift concert. So, to apologize and clear up any confusion, we’ve decided to dedicate another show to her. We promise she might or might not appear this time.
