On my way with a colleague Wednesday, November 29, 2023 8:30am, we witnessed two middle school-aged boys carrying a female student, as they attempted to put her into the public garbage bin at the corner of Q St. and Wisconsin Ave.
It was clear that it wasn’t a case of kids just goofing around; the female student was visibly kicking trying to fight them off. What was even more troubling was the number of adults just standing around watching this WITHOUT HELPING the girl. My colleague and I yelled at the boys and they immediately let the girl go. I’ve lived in Georgetown for 3 years and love it, but today I was disheartened by the indifference of the bystanders to a child in trouble.”
