“Capitol Hill Public Elementary School Welcomes the Community to Its 13th Annual Holiday Tree Sale”

From an email:

“The Brent Elementary School Parent Teacher Association will hold its 13th annual Holiday Sale from Thursday, Nov. 30 – Sunday, Dec. 3. Proceeds are used to provide critical resources to students at this public elementary school on Capitol Hill.

Beautiful fragrant Fraser fir trees, greenery, Hanukkah items, and more are available for presale until Nov. 28 at www.brentholidaysale.org. In addition to trees the outdoor, on-lot sale will include wreaths, garland, poinsettias, winterberry, and Hanukkah items. All customers will also have the popular option to have their trees delivered on the day of purchase and the option for in-home setup.

“We’re thrilled to launch year 13 of the Brent Holiday Sale, which has become such an honored tradition that brings the Brent and broader community together during the holiday season,” said Mary Claire York, Brent Holiday Sale co-chair. “In addition to raising critical dollars for our public school, we’re excited to spread holiday cheer beyond the halls of our school through our ‘donate a tree’ program.”

Brent is partnering with Everyone Home DC – a local nonprofit working to ensure everyone has access to a safe, affordable, and comfortable home – on its “Donate a Tree” program to provide trees, ornaments and lights to approximately 40 families in need this holiday season. Donation trees may be purchased online here.

“It’s an honor to work with the Brent community to bring the holiday spirit – by way of a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree – into the homes of the people we work alongside,” said Kate Akalonu, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Everyone Home DC. “Our work across DC in helping more people access safe housing is rewarding year-round, and ensuring all people have a comfortable place to call home and create memories during the holidays reminds us of what this season is really about.”

This year’s on-lot sale will be open at 301 N. Carolina Avenue SE on the following days and times:

Thursday, November 30th – 4pm – 7pm
Friday, December 1st – 4pm – 7pm
Saturday, December 2nd – 9am – 5pm
Sunday, December 3rd – 9am – 5pm”

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
