“Dear PoPville,
I have a neighbor that is largely absent. Over the last 2 years he has been in the house maybe, and this is pushing it, 48 hours total. I know this because he has a reserved handicap parking spot in front and my front door camera picks it up. This spot is a whole other grievance but, I don’t want to come off as a NIMBY and complain about parking.
Back to the house…
It is just sitting vacant and not in the best repair. There is a light on so I know it is still hooked up to power and I’m sure the water and gas are still hooked up as well. I feel like with no one living there this is just an accident waiting to happen. Not to mention the potential for bugs, and rodents making their way into the place.
I don’t have any way of contacting this neighbor and the rest of the block has just advised me to stay away and “not poke the bear”, citing what an unpleasant person he is.
Should I be concerned and try to notify the city in some way or am I blowing this out of proportion? I wouldn’t even know where to start or if the city could even do anything.”
