Thanks to a reader for passing on a message they received from NPS:
“The restoration of the Dupont fountain was delayed after significant vandalism took place at the site in June. The project was paused while we sought additional funding to repair the damage from the vandalism
and complete the restorative work that needed to be redone. The project is underway again and weather permitting should be completed by the end of the month.”
Update from a reader: “From Friday afternoon. If you look closely, you’ll see them putting down the mixture of rock and whatever the hell it is for the basin. Progress!”
