“How can I safely hang window boxes for Micro Gardening”

“Dear PoPville,

My problem is figuring out how to hang, safely, window boxes on a brick apartment building that the landlord doesn’t allow drilling holes. Understand an owner not wanting amateurs making permanent changes to the building.

But it would be really great to be able to inexpensively grow my own greens, peas, herbs, etc. And it is possible to grow an urban abundance amazing in a small space with just a little sunshine, “Micro gardening,”

Apparently

there are brick cleats for fastening stuff to brick w/o drilling into the brick, but a watered window box is HEAVY! Of course, I don’t want to just set something on a ledge that isn’t secured to prevent it from falling, worst case, on someone!

Any second floor & up apartment dwellers have window boxes?
How did you secure them?
Any pro tips?
