Dear PoPville

“new e-check fee being applied to pay rent on many units across the city.”

“Dear PoPville,

I hope I’m not the only one sending a message about the new e-check fee being applied to pay rent on many units across the city. AppFolio is now charging tenants $2.49 for e-checks. They were already charging a fee for credit card payments.

Many people I’ve spoken to say their property management companies refuse to take paper checks, so they have no other option than to pay. I also understand this is legal (with updated lease and 30 days notice), but that is also not confirmed. Would love to know how many of your readers are impacted/livid.”
