Stumbled upon a bin with the lid on this afternoon in an alley [in Petworth] right next to the trash and recycling but to my horror found two terrified cats inside. After further investigation, it’s clear these cats were intentionally abandoned by the dumpster to be discarded.
We have contacted the humane rescue alliance and someone is coming to rescue now one cat as the other (orange) cat has either ran off or been rescued by someone. [Update: Both cats have now been rescued by the humane rescue alliance.] I wanted to write in hopes to bring this level of animal cruelty to everyone’s attention. It’s unclear what the situation surrounding these cats is, but no animal deserves this. I would adopt them myself if I hadn’t recently adopted another cat that can’t be around other cats.
