“Fascinating hawk story from outside Union Station! A hawk came swooping down to the edge of the sidewalk to pounce on a rat that must have been under the bush. It sat there for a minute or so, occasionally struggling around a bit.

(In the pictures, you can see the rat’s tail sticking out.) And then I guess the rat was too big, or the hawk decided it wasn’t actually hungry after all – because it took off and left the rat behind, alive. :( I was rooting for the hawk – better luck next time!”
If you spot a hawk, any interesting wildlife or celebrity skateboarder Tony Hawk, and get a good photo please send in an email where you spotted them to [email protected]. Thanks! Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.
