“Rogelio and Family Need Legal Help – Urgently!”

via GoFundMe

“Dear PoPville,

Reaching out on behalf of the dedicated school garden coordinator at Brightwood elementary in Ward 4 in a high-need community. He built the much-needed Brightwood Elementary school garden, putting in many hours of his free time, after working in the classroom all day, to provide a teaching garden so these children will have learning experiences like children attending prosperous schools do.

The garden makes a difference. In addition to the garden produce, the garden also hosts a twice-monthly food distribution of pantry items, thru a grant, to Brightwood families.

While Rogelio gives of his time freely and has built tremendous community support. He needs financial contributions (see below) but this is a community with limited means. Hoping that a few contributions from readers can help Brightwood reach the goal of raising $8000. for Rogelio and his family.

Here is the GoFundMe started by Brightwood school staff and community:

Rogelio and Family Need Legal Help – Urgently!

Rogelio is a dear colleague who is dedicated to serving children in DC Public Schools. Rogelio and his wife, Nelly, are being sued under a “slip and fall” allegation. Witnesses stated the plaintiff walked away and said she was fine at the time of the slip. Rogelio and Nelly have no means to pay legal fees to defend themselves….”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
