From a press release:

Little District Books, on Barrack’s Row in Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. opened in June 2022. A dream business for owner Patrick Kern, a 10-year resident of the greater Washington D.C. area.

The first six months showed us that the community was looking for a space like ours. The expansion has occurred earlier than planned. We were able to do a lot with our initial 300 sq. foot of retail, but there was also a lot we weren’t able to do. The new space will allow us to grow more with our book clubs, author events, and private events as well.

Prior to the expansion, we were up to about 1600 titles, but with the expansion we will be able to grow above 3000 titles over the next few months. The holiday shopping season taught us a lot about what our customers are looking for so we will be able to curate an even better selection of books going forward. We have been fortunate at the broad community support that has developed across the DMV as well as customers from across the country who have discovered us through social media.

Little District Books has events already scheduled in the expanded space like our upcoming author event with Nathan Tavares, author of A Fractured Infinity, recently reviewed in the New York Times. We will also continue to partner with other local businesses for some events, like our upcoming event with New York-based poet Imogen Xtian Smith, author of stemmy things, hosted at As You Are, 500 8th St. SE.”
