“Dear PoPville,
Last night [Petworth. It got in there sometime between 5:15 and when I got home at 9.] I got home from a massage, started running a hot bath with epsom salts for soaking, and went to use the toilet when I opened the lid and saw a rat in my toilet bowl.
It looked alive and sitting at or just under water level, but I shut the lid really fast and did my best to not scream bloody murder. If I were less disgusted by this, I would’ve snapped a photo for you, but you’ll just have to take my word for it. Good thing I always keep the toilet lid closed!
The earliest plumbing appointment I could get is between 11 and 2. One of my neighbors wonders whether I should call an exterminator instead, especially if the plumber is just gonna say, “call an exterminator.”
We’re assuming yesterday’s rain swept vermin into various sewage systems, but our building has definitely seen more rain, so why yesterday of all days? Maybe rats want to get out of the cold, too.”
Ed. Note: We’ve, sadly, definitely spoken about this in the past. I can’t find all the old posts but it has happened in many different neighborhoods.
