“Kimmy is a native Washingtonian and the Autism Director at the Ivymount School. Kimmy, is fighting the battle of her life”

via GoFundMe

Thanks to a friend for passing on the GoFundMe for Kimmy and her family:

“Kimmy, Timmy, and their kids need our help.

A year and some change ago, Kimmy was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent a comprehensive treatment regime, but still did a better job of keeping up with our friend’s group workouts than any of the rest of us, doing an increasing number of pushups and burpees without ever using fatigue from chemo as the viable excuse that it would have been. Kimmy beat the cancer, and went back for every checkup and followup, every exam and scan, to make sure she was still doing well. And she was. Until she wasn’t. Kimmy’s cancer came back in a rare and aggressive way. She dealt with it quickly and responsibly, and is fighting the good fight.

Thank you for your consideration, and for anything that you’re able to contribute to this effort. Supporting our dear friends and their family during their time of turmoil and need is the most important thing we can think to ask anyone to contribute.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
