Harrison writes: “Two people are reportedly trapped inside this small aircraft that has crashed into power lines near Goshen Road and Rothbury Drive in Montgomery Village near Gaithersburg. Rescue is still in progress over two hours after the plane crashed.”

Update from Pepco:

“Pepco is pleased to have successfully assisted Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services and other local emergency personnel with the effort to rescue the individuals who were stranded in the airplane in Montgomery County. As of 11:58 p.m., Pepco also has restored electric service for all customers impacted by incident.

The company is updating its online outage map to reflect the latest system status. Pepco continues its efforts working with local emergency services personnel at the site. The company will further stabilize the energy infrastructure at the scene and perform a full assessment of damage before planning and beginning repairs. It is too early to determine how long that assessment and repair process will take.

Due to the redundancy that Pepco builds into the local energy grid, the company was able to identify a path to restore service for all customers even while the electric lines impacted by this incident were deenergized.”

Update from WMATA: “Red Line Delay: Expect delays in both directions due to a power problem at Shady Grove.”

The company is assessing damage and contingency opportunities to restore service to impacted customers. Pepco is working closely with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services and is awaiting clearance to the scene before crews can begin work to stabilize the electric infrastructure and begin restoring service.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
