“DC Vigil for Club Q Victims” Tonight in Dupont Circle

From Facebook:

“Tonight (11/21), starting at 5:30 pm, join members of the LGBTQIA+ community at the Dupont Circle Fountain for a candlelight vigil to mourn and honor the lives lost and impacted by the Club Q shooting in Colorado Springs, Colorado — on what was the eve before Transgender Day of Remembrance.

We will gather to show solidarity with the LGBTIA+ community of Colorado and their allies to demonstrate that their LGBTQIA+ family in Washington, DC, as well as millions around the world, stand with them in love and support as we honor the memories of those lost and those who are healing from the violence in Colorado Springs. This dreadful attack was on a cherished safe space and sadly follows far too many brutal assaults that we have witnessed over the past several decades. From our nation’s capital, we will unite in grief and shock as we observe a moment of silence.

Participants are encouraged to donate directly to Colorado Gives, the official organization receiving contributions to assist the victims of this tragedy.

This event is hosted in partnership with the Mayor’s Office for LGBTQ+ Affairs, the Capital Pride Alliance, Center for Black Equity, Pride Fund to End Gun Violence, and members of our LGBTQ+ community.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
