“Dear PoPville,
Does anyone have experience dealing with DC’s Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH)? I was awarded a warranty bond against a developer to fix about $36,000 worth of damage/missing structural issues. The award was granted in August 2021. The developer contested it and we went to court in March 2022. The judge said he would give his decision by May 2022…and it’s now October.
Is an eight-month delay between court appearance and issuance of a decision normal? What – if any – are my options? If I fix the structural defect with my own money, the warranty bond will not pay for that retroactively. I feel like I’m sitting on a ticking time bomb with this issue – any help appreciated.”
