Hakuna Matata opening on H Street, NE in October

1128 H Street, NE the former Cusbah space

Thanks to G. for sending the updated signage and paint job at Hakuna Matata, “serving east African food”.

“Hakuna Matata was born out of a hunger to share the rich culture of Africa through the food!

We are a mix of relatives and friends who became family decades ago, and we love to eat and spend time together. We love to cook together in our homes, but whenever we would want to eat out, we had minimal options for East African food in the District of Colombia, Maryland and Virginia region.

Hakuna Matata Grill brings the delightful taste of authentic East African cuisine to the DC Metrtopolitan Area. Explore a variety of fine African dishes, with an explosion of flavors from across East Africa, India, and Portugal, prepared by our award-winning Executive Chef Paul “Smokey” Ofwono.”

You can see their menu here. Stay tuned for an exact opening date.
