Shootings in Columbia Heights and (Update: Homicide) Truxton Circle Last Night

“Good Evening. 3D is currently investigating a Shooting at 14th & Irving St NW. An Adult Male victim sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to an area hospital in stable non-life threatening condition.

At this time we believe this was a targeted event after a dispute.

There is an obvious police presence which will likely be ongoing for the next hour or so. Traffic will be impacted.

“MPD is on the scene of a confirmed Shooting in the 1500 block of 5th Street, NW.Victim is an Adult Male suffering from a gunshot wound. Scene is Active and we are currently investigating the circumstances.

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Friday, September 9, 2022, in the 1300 block of 5th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 11:45 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for an investigate the trouble call for service. Upon arrival, the members located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life, the victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The decedent has been identified as 40-year-old Keith Allen, of Northwest, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”
