“Dear PoPville,
Is it just me, or is it every time that I get to a station for a transfer (Fort Totten, L’Enfant, Metro Center, Chinatown), the connecting train is already there. But they never wait. It’s like they see another train coming, and they’re just like, NOPE, now we’re in a hurry and have a schedule to keep.
Would be really nice if train conductors had the flexibility, and those aligning the schedules, would plan for transfers to actually align to facilitate a successful transfer without having to wait. Especially in these times of 8 minute headways. Or build a slight delay (2 minutes, that’s all I’m asking for) so we don’t have to sprint to the train in the distance to just to have a door close.
I’m guessing this is probably intentional to keep people from rushing. But I’ve seen so many trains in the distance, rushed to make them, only to have a door slammed in my face with an conductor behind a tinted window likely bummed to watch our inevitable defeat. We’re not giving up hope that we will make that train. We see you. We’re sorry you have to deal with us rushing. Please see us, stop a minute, and open the doors. It’ll only take a second.”
