Marie Reed pool locker room thefts PSA

I had the unfortunate experience of having the lock clipped from a locker at Marie Reed while I was swimming in the pool monday afternoon. My wallet and phone was stolen – luckily not some other items that happened to not be in my pants pockets. The staff told me this had happened before and

I think it is fair to say no one should leave any valuables in the locker room – even if you think they are safely locked up. That probably goes for most of the pools around DC – locks don’t seem to be much of a deterrent (unless someone has info on a lock that’s harder to break…). I’ll also say that I do really appreciate having public pools and am kicking myself for not being more careful.”
