Today in Where is the Netflix Film Rustin Filming – Adams Morgan and Capitol Hill

Pat sends this morning from in front of The Line on Columbia Road in Adams Morgan

Been getting lots of messages from folks spotting Rustin filming around town: “Do you know what’s filming in adams morgan? Lots of trucks and trailers (some with Netflix markings) around the Line hotel. All cars in the area were towed yesterday. Someone said it’s an Obama film?”

It is is indeed!

And thanks to Matt K. for sending the awesome shot below: “Some classics parked outside of Rumsey Aquatic Center in SE DC”

A few weeks ago we learned that a new Netflix series called Rustin would be filming this month:

“Rustin is an upcoming American drama film directed by George C. Wolfe from a screenplay by Dustin Lance Black and Wolfe. The story revolves around gay, civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, who organized the 1963 March on Washington.

The film is produced by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s production company Higher Ground Productions and will be distributed by Netflix.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
