I made the unfortunately abysmal mistake of living on U street (technically I live on 12). And every day of my life I wonder why the city does nothing about the dirt bikes. They are loud (so so loud). They ride through red lights. They cut off traffic. They make U turns in the opposite lane in front of the law abiding drivers. They drive in the wrong lane. Every single thing about them is illegal. I parked illegally on accident for one morning and got $145 in parking and towing fees.
And yet day after day these menaces to society rev on past all of the police to face zero consequences. It makes me wonder why I pay my tickets. It makes me wonder why anyone follows any laws. Look I chose to live on U Street. The drunks, the sirens, the madness… it’s part of the charm. The dirt bikes? I can’t put in writing my feelings about what I actually feel for them because then I’d be the bad guy.
I just hate the dirt bikes so much and it makes me resent every law I follow that the police do nothing about those criminals.
Man I want to move. Know anyone who wants to pay good money to live at 12 and U? You might get shot at, you cannot sleep, but you can walk to lots of nice stuff.”
