“Dear PoPville,

I wanted to ask everyone what their experience has been getting tickets for the Kusama exhibit at the Hirshhorn? When it was there a few years ago, it was the hottest ticket in town. Now the museum is only releasing same day tickets in person the morning of. I was wondering how good a chance I have getting tickets now?”

Another reader asked: “Anyone have experience getting the same-day tix to Kusama at the Hirshhorn? What time to get in line / when do they usually run out by?”

Some experiences:

“It’s worth the wait! Get in line by 8 or 8:30am (I think the tickets began distributing at 9am) but get there early… the line wraps from the center of the Hirshhorn around the west side and back towards Independence Ave. & you get to pick the time you want to enter/come back!”

“I did but it was the 1st wknd so it may be diff now. I got in line at 8:30 (1 hour before tickets are released). There were 30-50 people ahead of me. Each person can get 2 tix (kids under12 don’t need a ticket; 2 kids per ticketed adult). I had no prob getting the time I wanted.”

“From our experience (we went Apr 23rd), arriving approx 30 min before tickets were distributed gave us plenty of wiggle room!”

“Went at 9 about a month ago and got tickets for 10:15. The Laurie Anderson exhibit is great too”

“I actually walked up last Thursday at around 11 and they had plenty of tickets available for that day starting at 12:15. Maybe just got lucky, but I suspect that might not be unusual on weekdays now that the initial hubbub has died down – weekends probably still rough though.”

“I went during the week around 9 – they start distributing tickets at 9:30 and open at 10. There were about 10 people ahead of me. I was able to get a 10 am time and there were no lines once I got inside. They will also let you choose another time if you want later instead.”

“We arrived at 9:30am on a Saturday and got tickets for 12:30pm that day”

“Went on a Tuesday at the time they distribute tickets and there was a decent line but we still got tickets for 12:45”

“Last week I got tickets at 10 a.m. (no line) and had my choice of entry times after 10:45”

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
