Multiple Shots Fired near Petworth Metro around 3:45pm

Readers started reporting around 4:15pm: “I live on Quincy and Georgia Ave NW, and just heard what sounded like about 10 gunshots from my apartment. Police have currently roped off part of New Hampshire right at the Georgia Ave metro station.”

Dave Statter reported:

“A @dcfireems paramedic ambulance was riding by the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro station at 3:45 p.m. today when shots were fired. As of last word, no victims were found. Police investigating.”

Metro reports: “Yellow/Green Line Alert: Georgia Ave’s North entrance is closed due to a police investigation outside the station. The South entrance remains open.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a vehicle in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Saturday, May 28, 2022, in the 3700 block of New Hampshire Avenue, Northwest.

At approximately 3:45 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located evidence of shots fired but no victim was located. A short time later, a victim was located, at a local hospital, seeking treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect vehicle, described as a white Land Rover Discovery bearing an unknown temporary tag, was captured by nearby surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photos below:

Anyone who can identify this vehicle or who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
