Update from a reader: “I was about 5 feet from the shooting in Shaw at 2pm yesterday. I had to run away and saw and heard bullets clinking off of metal. There was a car in the middle of the street that was shooting towards someone maybe five feet from me. I feel very lucky to be alive. Everyone crouched down and started running away. People were hiding behind cars. Running down the metro steps. Running down streets. I had no idea where to go. I didn’t know when I was safe.”

Gunfire in Shaw today (Sunday) I think a bit after 2PM. It’s still a little surreal for a (possibly two-way) gun battle to happen in broad daylight near a metro stop and yet
without any of it showing up yet on the MPD twitter yet or anywhere else from bystanders even.
I was inside Right Proper so didn’t see anything myself, but heard several shots and about twenty patrons fled into the back and even the kitchen. All I heard from outside was just hearsay, but police were on the scene outside and so we came back out and resumed our dining quickly.
This was the only mention I saw anywhere online from killmoenews: “SHOOTING: POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR 2 INDIVIDUALS THAT EXCHANGED GUNFIRE AT SHAW-HOWARD METRO STATION.”
