Adoptville Volunteer and new mother, Kate, needs our help

Kate is the volunteer who organizes our Adoptville post each week and is an all around good person who could use our help.

From GoFundMe:

“At 34.5 weeks of pregnancy I started having having intense pain and high blood pressure. I was diagnosed with not only severe pre-eclampsia but also was told my gallbladder was inflamed to the point of needing to be removed.

My team told me I had to deliver the baby immediately and admitted me for induction. They put me on meds to stabilize my pressure and try to stave off removing my gallbladder right away so I wouldn’t have to undergo birth and an additional surgery simultaneously.

After 4 days of trying to deliver the baby it was clear the induction wasn’t working; my body was not responding. Every failed intervention was more time my baby and I were at risk. I was devastated and also knew my daughter’s safety was a priority so I underwent an emergency cesarean and delivered my daughter, Tabitha.

Tabitha was rushed to the NICU immediately due to respiratory distress. We’ve been here a week now, but every day she grows stronger. I hope to bring her home soon. Being apart from this new little person is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through. I’m also so lucky and grateful and all the things. I love her so much.

The combined medical bills for myself and my daughter will be substantial. I’ve been told a typical day in the NICU costs about $3,000. When she is discharged she will be evaluated to see if she needs special services as well.

I’m a single mother by choice and although I am extremely proud to of my decision, it doesn’t come without its challenges. I never anticipated this level of complexities around my own health and my daughters birth. Therefore I’m asking my community for any help they can give. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. I hope one day soon I will be able to pay it forward as well.

Thank you”
