“Help finding stolen items: my grandfather’s high school class ring from Roanoke Rapids High School with the date 1937 on it, my grandmother’s phi beta kappa key with her initials and Duke University 1942 engraved on the back”

“Dear PoPville,

I’m hoping the community may be able to help find two items- my grandfather’s high school class ring and my grandmother’s phi beta kappa key, which were both stolen along with a few other sentimental items like an old golf tee and a dog tag when my home was recently burglarized. I realize it’s a very slim chance, but given the personal value to me, I want to try any/all avenues.

My grandfather’s high school class ring is from Roanoke Rapids High School and would have the date 1937 on it, and my grandmother’s phi beta kappa key would have her initials and Duke University 1942 engraved on the back. I don’t have good pictures of either but below is an example of what the PBK key looks like and a picture of another family member’s class ring from the same high school that looks very similar to my grandfather’s.

They were in a black, velour-like jewelry bag and may have been tossed or end up in a pawn shop, or who knows where. If anyone happens to come across them, I would be grateful for their return and can offer a reward.”

If anyone comes across either please email me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
