“Benefit concert for Ukrainian refugees”

“Dear PoPville,

The Collective Good: A Benefit Show for Ukrainian Refugees: On Saturday, April 16th, sixteen local, up-and-coming DJs (lineup below) will be spinning house, disco, and tech all night on two floors at 618 Cocktail and Whiskey Lounge in Chinatown. Watch the sunset on the rooftop and enjoy a night of great music, cocktails, and philanthropy.

Tickets start at $15 (with the option to donate more), and 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to benefit Ukrainian refugees currently displaced from the senseless ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, in support of current initiatives being performed by the recipients of the Ukrainian Order of Merit, the Norwegian Refugee Council. These funds will help the NRC in scaling up their response to the crisis inside Ukraine and in neighboring countries, where they have already begun the work, providing aid to tens of thousands of people being forced to flee.

Lineup: DJ Retrospect (@thelanternsees), Xtian (@pandtle), Ameer Dyson (@ameerdyson), SaintMark (@saintmark), Danny House (@dannyhouseofficial), Nader (dj_nader_official), ElleX (@ellex_dj), Spcl.k (@spclkmusic), Room12 (@room_12_dc), Gigi (@gigi.ida), Disco, Kiss (@jumpinjackchad_discokiss), RODD (@rodd.ly), Nils…, Dee Jay Clutch (@deejayclutch), Rainier Rodriguez (@goodhousemusik), Sneakers in the Dryer (@sneakersinthedryer)

Background on The Collective Good:

The Collective Good is a series of philanthropic hyperlocal festival-style music events with a goal of bringing together the DC community to do good while having a great time.

Founded by two DC natives, Ciero Kilpatrick and Mark Butler, The Collective Good was created to shine a light on the creative talent pool of DC and the city’s unbridled resilience and ability to organize to support those in need. Butler, a longtime local DJ (SaintMark), sees it as an opportunity to expose residents to a variety of musical talent all in one venue. Kilpatrick sees it as a way to raise money for important causes while having a good time. With the city beginning to recover from the pandemic, The Collective Good was their solution to bring people together to have fun while making an impact.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
